The souvenir postage stamps have the portraits of the peaks as Hillary, Tenzing, Makalu, Kanchanjungha while the mountain flight in Nepal's Himalayan range backside while the Hanumandhoka's Gaddhi Baithak, Hindu God Narsingh, nine-storey palace and Rani Mahal located at Palpa are in commemorative postage stamps.At a programme held by the Department here Tuesday, Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal affixed the first day cancellation mark on both sorts of postage stamps.
The cost of the souvenir postage stamp introduced to mark the diamond jubilee celebration of the first ascent of Makalu and Kanchanjungha mountains has been fixed at Rs 106 while 200,000 copies has been printed.
Likewise, under the commemorative category, the stamp displaying the miniature picture of the Gaddhi Baithak costs Rs 35. The stamps with God Narsingh and the nine-storey palace are priced at Rs 10. The stamp with Rani Mahal is priced at Rs 25. The stamps portraying Rani Mahal and Gaddhi Baithak stamps have been printed 500,000 copies each.
Similarly, the nine-storey palace and God Narsingh stamps have been printed a million of copies each.
The Department printed the stamps for the first time in the Netherlands. The stamps will prove to be a milestone in promoting Nepal's historic, archeological, cultural and touristy heritages in the country and the world, the Department said.
On the occasion, Minister Dr Rijal said the government gave foremost priority to reconstruction of the historic and archeological treasures of the country that suffered damages in the massive earthquake.
He expressed belief the postage stamps would contribute further in spreading the fame of Nepal's attractive Himalayan range in the world.
