JANAKPUR, June 18: The government of Province 2 has prioritized infrastructure development, irrigation and education sectors in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year – FY2019/20.
In his budget speech, Minister of Economic Affairs and Projects Bijay Kumar Yadav on Sunday said that the provincial government has allocated Rs 8.4 billion for physical infrastructure development.
Damage to irrigation amounts to Rs 2.42 billion
A lion's share of budget allocated for infrastructure development will go for Janata Awas – a residence development program for local people – which was introduced in the current fiscal year. Similarly, toward social development sector, the government has allocated Rs 3.18 billion to implement programs related to education, health and social security. For education and health sectors, the provincial government has set aside Rs 2.21 billion and Rs 1.24 billion, respectively.
In education sector, the provincial government has given priority to daughter's education deposit program. It has allocated Rs 900 million for the program.
Similarly, Rs 390.33 million has been allocated for 'Educate Daughter, Save Daughter' campaign.
The government of Province 2 has allocated Rs 1.11 billion for small and medium-scale irrigation projects.
The provincial government has set aside Rs 2.97 billion for local units, while it has allocated Rs 3.54 billion for Provincial Constituency Development Program.
