COVID-19: Province 2 govt decides to provide food rations to poor people, daily wage workers

KATHMANDU, March 29: Province 2 government has decided to provide food rations to the poor people and daily wage workers who need immediate help throughout the lockdown period.

KATHMANDU, March 29: Province 2 government has decided to provide food rations to the poor people and daily wage workers who need immediate help throughout the lockdown period.


A meeting of the provincial cabinet held on Sunday took a decision to this effect, according to Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut's press advisor Aatish Mishra.

The cabinet meeting decided to allocate Rs 2.5 million to metropolitan cities each, Rs 2 million to sub-metropolitan cities each, 1.5 million to municipalities each and Rs 1 million to rural municipalities each as the immediate relief to coronavirus-affected people.


The province is all set to form a committee comprising of the representatives from the local governments, political parties, security agencies, and social workers to execute the program at every local level, according to Mishra.


The province government has also announced to ensure insurance facilities and provide allowance for the health workers and medical staffs who are being deployed in the province to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.
