Providing a hassle-free commute

Commuting in Kathmandu can be a nightmare and those who drive can vouch for that. And if you try to take a cab, the haggling will make you even more frustrated. And sometimes you might not want to drive or take a taxi to a party but then you are left with no option. It was because of these reasons Icchya Joshi came up with the idea of Dial a Driver (DAD). It is a private chauffer service established to make commuting hassle free and safe.

“We wanted to make commuting convenient and easy. With Dial a Driver you can choose to sit in the backseat of your own car without having to worry about traffic jams, parking, or even the fact that you’ve had a glass of wine at that party,” says Anand Joshi, who is in charge of the legal aspects of Dial a Driver.

Safety of the customer is Dial a Driver’s first priority. And it provides round the clock services which is why you can, like Anand said, feel free to enjoy a glass of wine or two at any party. The business now has many loyal customers but it hasn’t been an easy ride for the Joshi family to sustain the service-oriented family business.

Being a new concept, it was hard for Dial a Driver to promote itself in the beginning. Initially they had to pay the drivers without the business making much money. But because of the team’s hard work and dedication, Dial a Driver quickly became a popular household name. One of the best features of the business is that they have an hourly renting cost. This way, customers can hire a driver for a specific number of hours instead of the whole day.

“Our aim is to provide quality service to our customers at reasonable prices,” says Anand adding that though they are having a difficult time meeting the demand for drivers, they are in the process of solving this problem. “We can’t just randomly hire drivers. We are looking for experienced and reliable people for the job,” he adds.

In the meanwhile, the service is just a phone call away. If you want a hassle and stress free commute around the valley, then book a driver for the day or the number of hours you need their services for and let Dial a Driver take over.
