KATHMANDU, June 19: Protesting workers of Hyatt Regency Kathmandu have reported back to work after the Labour and Employment Office agreed to mediate in addressing their demands.
The Employment Office's move has opened up a legal way in this regard, and the protesting workers have agreed to go back to work, said Mukti Dahal, general secretary of the All Nepal Hotel Casino and Restaurant Workers Union, and chairperson of the Authorised Trade Union. "All agitating workers have reported back for duty. However the hotel management is yet to resume operation," he said.

The hotel has been drawn to a dispute after the hotel management allocated a few units of its share to the then government-owned Tara Gaun Development Committee, reasoning it had been incurring a loss. "The hotel management is trying to stay away from resuming the hotel citing a dispute of land and shares. The management is trying to run away blaming the protest," he said.
The workers form past a week been protesting a perk and service facilities cut by the hotel management and lack of favorable environment to work. The hotel has approximately 400 workers.
