Protecting citizens is the first responsibility of govt, elections will be held peacefully: Home Minister

RUPANDEHI, Nov 2: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has expressed his confidence that the upcoming elections will be held peacefully with everyone's collective efforts. He said, “In coordination with the staff, security agencies, the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) and the provincial assemblies will be held in a fear-free environment.”

RUPANDEHI, Nov 2: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has expressed his confidence that the upcoming elections will be held peacefully with everyone's collective efforts. He said, “In coordination with the staff, security agencies, the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) and the provincial assemblies will be held in a fear-free environment.”


Addressing the Lumbini Province-level security meeting in Butwal on Wednesday, Home Minister Khand said that the upcoming elections will also be peaceful with everyone's support, like the local level elections. He stated that protecting the lives of citizens is the first responsibility of the government and mentioned that the government is always committed to the safety of citizens and the protection of property.

Home Minister Khand thanked the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department for their 24-hour security role in protecting the life and property of citizens.


"Despite the limited resources, the role played by the security agencies in extreme situations is commendable," he said. It is said that the security situation of the province and the upcoming elections will be discussed in the security meeting. Chief District Officer of Rupandehi Bharatmani Pandey said that there will be a presentation of Chief District Officers of all 12 districts of the province and heads of security agencies in the meeting.
