Properties worth Rs 50m gutted in fire

SANKHUWASABHA, April 15: A fire broke out and spread fast before reducing five houses to ashes and causing a damage estimated at Rs 50 million in the Sankhuwasabha district headquarters of Khandbari early Monday morning.



The fire believed to have started from electric short circuit at 3 am destroyed the houses of Ramesh Lohal, Dinesh Shrestha, Ramkaji Rai, Bharat Shrestha and Krishnaman Shrestha before it was taken under control at 6 am by a collective effort of personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and locals. The shops of Binod Katuwal and Bhim Chapagain rented in two of the houses were also gutted in the fire, causing a huge financial loss.
