FALEBAS, Parbat, March 23: Generally, projects start with the aim of completing in one to five years.

But some projects are such that they are not completed even after decades. Such an irrigation project in Parbat district has been completed in seven decades.

The Pattharkhola Irrigation Project started in 2002 BS in Pang VDC of Parbat district has been completed in 68 years. The villagers completed it by raising Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500 as it remained incomplete for long.

The project was started for irrigating 2,500 ropanies of land in Ward Nos. 3, 6 and 7 of Pang VDC but it could not be completed as sometimes there was no budget and sometimes the plan was curtailed, said Chairman of the Consumers´ Committee, Chhabilal Paudel.

Even when Rs. 163,000 was appropriated, it was curtailed without spending even a penny, complained Poudel.

Treasurer of the Consumers´ Committee, Birendra Rijal said the canal was completed by collecting three million rupees from the consumers.

Although the water is released by opening track, Rs. 15 million more is needed to complete it. Some 300 families will benefit from the project.
