Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track, Mid-Hill Highway, East-West Railway, Postal Road, Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, North-South Highway, Melamchi Project, regional airports in Pokhara and Bhairawa and West Seti Hydropower Project, among others, have been tagged as the national pride projects by the government.
Similarly, Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, Sikta Irrigation Project, Ranijamara Irrigation Project and Babai Irrigation Project are other projects that the government is undertaking with priority.
According to NPC, works at the project site of the Melamchi Drinking Water project has resumed and West Seti Hydropower project has been moving ahead smoothly.
“Progress on the development of Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track too is quite satisfactory, and a team of Chinese technicians has reached the project site of the West Seti Hydropower project,” said Kshetry.
According to the NPC, 42 km of track opening has been completed in the 76-km Fast Track that connects Kathmandu and Nijghad. The government has completed the track opening of 190 km of Mid-Hill Highway so far, NPC said.
However, the NPC officials said they are yet to get latest status of the irrigation projects. “The progress of irrigation projects have been affected due to lack of adequate budget,” Irrigation Minister Mahendra Yadav said.
