KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The government has formed a probe committee to investigate the Kanchanpur incident. Ministry of Home Affairs has formed the 5- member committee led by Hari Prasad Mainali, Director General of Prison Management Department after Kanchapur locals continued to protest for the last three days demanding the arrest of the culprit involved in the raping and killing of Nirmala Panta, a 13-year-old girl of Bhimdatta municipality-2, Kanchanpur.
According to the source at the ministry, the committee member will be deployed to the area immediately and will start the job. At least eight people including two police officials have been injured after police opened fire on protesters while they were staging the demonstration demanding the arrest of the culprit involved in the rape and murder case of Nirmala Panta on Thursday.
