Probe committee concludes Min Bahadur's group’s involvement in smuggling 138 kg of gold

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: The investigation committee of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office has concluded that Min Bahadur Ghale and his group were involved in smuggling 138 kg of gold, with 14 kg of gold having been seized by the customs office last time.

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: The investigation committee of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office has concluded that Min Bahadur Ghale and his group were involved in smuggling 138 kg of gold, with 14 kg of gold having been seized by the customs office last time.


On December 8, Chandra Ale, who came to Kathmandu from Dubai, was arrested by the TIA Customs Office with 14 kg of gold. Min Bahadur Ghale of Gorkha was also arrested in that process.


During the investigation conducted by the committee formed by the customs office to investigate the incident, Min Bahadur had contacted a person named Ankit Agarwal in Dubai and made arrangements for gold smuggling in Nepal.

The investigation committee said, "Time and time again, Min Bahadur Ghale, Chandra Ale and Krishna Kumar Shrestha smuggled a total of 138 kg of gold and successfully passed it through the airport in collusion with officials. Last time, only 14 kg from Chandra Ghale was seized."


Min Bahadur and Chandra Ale along with Krishna Kumar Shrestha used to bring gold from Dubai. It has been found that Dan Bahadur Gurung, alias DB, was used to arrange the settings at the airport.


The committee concluded that AC mechanic Radhakrishna Shrestha of Gouchar, AC mechanic Radhakrishna Shrestha, office assistant Lek Bahadur Tamang, former contract employee Ramesh Deula, office assistant Anil Shrestha and plumber Sher Bahadur Basnet were involved in transporting gold from the airport.


Ramesh Deula, Radhakrishna Shrestha and Anil Shrestha used to deliver the gold collected from the airport to DB Gurung's house in Suryadarshan Height, Tokha Municipality, Baniyatar, Kathmandu. Min Bahadur and his associate Jeewan Gurung used to transport the gold to the location specified by Ankit Agrawal.
