KATHMANDU, June 10: Security personnel shot dead a prisoner, Ganesh Tamang, who was allegedly trying to escape from the prison in Dhunche in Rasuwa district on Tuesday, reported Avenues TV on Wednesday.
Another prisoner, Subas Tamang, was injured in the firing.
Meanwhile, RSS reported Assistant Chief District Officer Yubraj Mainali as saying that Tamang, 24, of Katunje VDC, Dhading district died on the spot in the police action when he attempted to flee smashing the window of the prison house.
Injured Tamang of Naubise, Dhading has sustained injuries in the firing. He is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Rasuwa, said police.
Another inmate, Amar Gurung of Lekhnath Municipality, Kaski is absconding from the scene.
