KATHMANDU, May 12: Speaker of the parliament Subas Nembang has urged caretaker Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to take immediate steps and end the current impasse in the parliament.

Speaker Nembang said it´s a serious matter that the Maoist lawmakers have been disrupting the parliament meetings, affecting all the legislative and constitution-making processes.

"I suggested the prime minister that major political parties go hand-in-hand at least till the drafting of the new constitution and holding of the first elections to a new legislature," said Nembang. "The bitterness surfaced in recent days is extremely sad and should come to an end."

Nembang said the end to the current political impasse in the parliament was not possible without the prime minister´s initiatives. "The issue over which the Maoists are obstructing the House meeting can be resolved by the parliament itself," said Nembang.

He said the country has been without any functioning government since the prime minister resigned and prolonging this is very harmful to the country.

In response, the prime minister said he´s positive to the suggestions made by the speaker. "I found the prime minister very serious and positive to my suggestions," said Nembang.
