KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The Social Welfare Council has taken a decision to carry out repair and maintenance of its office building at local Lainchaur. The office building was damaged by the Gorkha Earthquake that struck the country on April 25, 2015.

A meeting of the Council held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar today likewise decided to reconstruct the Council's office located at Bhrikuti Mandap as well. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal who is the Chairman of the Council.

"The meeting discussed on amending the Council Employees regulations and Guidelines in tune with the time for the rights and welfare of the employees," said Council member-secretary Dilli Bhatta, after the meeting.

The meeting also decided to convene the meeting of the Work Execution Committee and the Board as well which have not been held for long. The Council treasurer, members and the member-secretary were present in the meeting.

On the occasion, PM Dahal stated that the issues related to the Council would be gradually implemented as required, according to member-secretary Bhatta.

It is said many NGOs have not submitted their reports to the Council for long. The Council is the government body that governs and regulates the NGOS and I/NGOS.

Only around 500 organizations submitted their reports to the Council in fiscal year 2015/16.

Some 42 thousand 319 national and 230 international NGOs are registered with the Council. RSS
