Prez, PM wish happy Dashain

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav extended heartfelt greetings to all Nepalis in and outside the country on the occasion of the great festival of Bada Dashain 2068.



In a message, President Dr Yadav has said that all the festivals of Nepal are an important occasion of family and social reunion and to preserve our cultural heritage, while also lauding the incomparable contribution of such festivals in promoting brotherhood, reconciliation and good relations among people of various languages, cultures, traditions and geographical regions.[break]



“Preservation and promotion of such festivals which remain as our tradition and cultural heritage would ultimately help strengthen the foundation of national unity”, Dr Yadav has said in the message.



In the message, the President has also drawn the attention of all concerned towards not causing any further delay in concluding the peace process and drafting a new constitution as per the people’s aspiration and the country’s need and thereby reinstate and consolidate the institutions and structures of the State.



He has also urged all including the Government of Nepal to support in minimizing the concerns and misery of the families affected by the recent earthquake and floods and landslides, while extending heartfelt sympathy to the families.



Stating that it was the prime duty of every Nepali citizen to protect national unity and integrity by taking pride over the independent history of the country, Dr Yadav has also heartily appealed to all to remain alert and conscious of the activities carried out to cause damage to national unity and integrity by taking undue advantage of the current transition.



He has also wished that Shree Durga Bhawani bless us all to move ahead towards stability from the current transition.



May Dashain inspire us for consensus: Jha



Vice President Parmananda Jha has stressed that peace, consensus and constitution are the need of the day and wished that may the great Hindu festival of Vijaya Dashami unite all the Nepalis and inspire them to move forward on the path of consensus and collaboration.



The Vice President also wished that may the country get the constitution at the earliest possible time.



Wishes for mutual goodwill: PM Bhattarai



Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, in a message of greetings on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, expressed best wishes that may the occasion today give the inspiration to all the Nepalis to take the country towards the path of progress by maintaining mutual goodwill and conciliation.



Stating that the festival of Vijaya Dashami which is our custom has been established as an asset of our culture, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai hoped that it would be successful in further strengthening the peace and mutual goodwill in the present context.



"I want to express my best wishes that may this festival inspire all the Nepalis living at home and abroad to move forward on the path of duty and bestow them peace, prosperity and good health by forgetting mutual discord and animosity," the prime minister stated in his message of best wishes.



Festival promotes collective aspiration: Koirala





Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said all our festivals are the heritages of our social ties and cultural goodwill that have further promoted the collective aspirations and helped in establishing the basis of unity and goodwill amongst all.



In a message of best wishes given on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, the Nepali Congress president said that the country is today finds itself standing before complex problems and that history has bestowed upon us the grave responsibility of establishing lasting peace in the country, promoting the national interest and formulating a federal democratic republican constitution by resolving these problems.



Koirala said, "We can transform our country Nepal into a peaceful and prosperous country only if we are able to fulfill this responsibility by becoming aware of this responsibility."



Stating that the country could be made rid of disease, hunger, poverty, illiteracy and unemployment through collective endeavours, collaboration, unity and goodwill amongst all, Nepali Congress President Koirala suggested using the great festival of Bijaya Dashami as an opportunity to review our past works and activities and correcting mistakes if any.



He expressed the belief that the significance of this festival would be further enhanced if we could recall it as a festival to be engaged in the all-round wellbeing of the country.



Similarly, senior leader of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba also extended best wishes to all the Nepalis on the occasion of the Vijaya Dashami festival and wished that may this festival foster unity among all the Nepalis.



Consolidating democracy important: ex-king



Former King Gyanendra Shah extended best wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami festival.



In a message of best wishes, former king Shah said the practice of virtues and values, cordiality in society and the triumph of truth are the messages deeply integrated with the Vijaya Dashami festival.



Stating that throughout history our motherland has remained an independent country, with diverse geographical regions, castes and ethnicities, communities and sects, enriching its beauty and vitality, former monarch Shah expressed his firm belief that this originality strengthens our culture and faith, our indivisible sovereignty and independence and must always remain the mainstay of the richness of our diversity.



"Consolidating democracy is as important as making people feel that this is a system that improves their quality of life and gives them boundless opportunities," former King said in the message, adding that as ever as before, he believed that this is no time for conflict and any kind of division in our society.



The best way to consolidate nationalism and democracy is to pursue a policy of national reconciliation and an approach that will promote integration as well as an over all development of the Hills, Mountains and the Terai, the former king stated.



"At a time when the country is passing through a difficult course in its history, let me reiterate that my commitment towards my Motherland is as firm as ever, and I want to assure all my brothers and sisters that as a responsible individual, I will continue to work for the nation and the people and not budge an inch from the Rashtra Dharma that I am fully committed to," former king Shah reiterated.
