Prez Bhandari to honor senior citizens in Biratnagar today

BIRATNAGAR, Oct 22: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari is arriving at Biratnagar to participate in the Senior Citizens Festival to be organized by Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences.

BIRATNAGAR, Oct 22: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari is arriving at Biratnagar to participate in the Senior Citizens Festival to be organized by Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences.


 According to organizers, President Bhandari will touch down at Biratnagar Airport in a Nepali Army helicopter at 11 am. She will head straight for Jain Bhawan from the airport.  

A large tarpaulin has been put up under which the program will be held on the premises of Jain Bhawan, Basim Alam, a member of Stage Management Committee, told Republica Online.


According to Jivan Ghimire, a member of the Organizing Committee and UML leader, Bhandari will honor those citizens above 70 years.

Bhadari will herself serve food to those crossing 100 years of age while the rest will be served by the other guests.


Over 3,000 seniors are expected to participate in the festival.


With the President’s scheduled visit,  the security situation has been beefed up in Biratnagar area.
