KATHMANDU, July 27: Unified CPN (Maoist) has accused President Dr Ram Baran Yadav of trying to establish himself as parallel power center during an all-party meeting. The Maoist party also sought consensus of other political parties in their issues during the meeting held at its parliamentary party office in Singhadurbar on Monday morning.[break]
According to Maoist spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal briefed other parties that Yadav is trying to establish the President’s Office as a parallel power center by appointing principal secretary in his office.
"Appointment of principal secretary in the president´s office is an attempt to run the office parallel to the prime minister´s office," Dahal said in the meeting.
Dahal also accused President Yadav of trying to interfere in government and parliamentary affairs getting information directly from the general secretary of the parliament secretariat.
"President should not seek briefings directly from the secretariat. It is the government that is responsible for briefing to the president," he told leaders of other parties.
Dahal termed it as an objectionable act by the President, according to Dr. Keshab Man Shakya, president of Nepa Rastriya Party.
No representative from major ruling political parties Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), Nepali Congress (NC) and Bijay Gachhadar-led Madhesi People´s Rights Forum was present in the meeting.
Most of other 25 political parties represented in the Constituent Assembly (CA) participated in the meeting called by the main opposition party.
Dahal also accused Yadav of playing role in promotion and extending terms of Nepal Army officials.
“These activities clearly indicate that President Yadav is giving continuity in his unconstitutional steps,” Sharma told myrepublica adding that other parties showed their serious concern on the issue.
According to a participant of the meeting, Rastriya Janashakti Party leader Prakash Chandra Lohani, however, suggested Maoists to be more concentrated on constitution writing rather than being more suspicious on president´s move.
