POKHARA, Sept 29: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today launched a campaign to clean Phewa Lake.
The President inaugurated the campaign by removing hyacinth that has spread prolifically over the lake based in Pokhara.
Submitting a memorandum to the President, executive officer at Pokhara Sub Metropolitan City Office Bhim Bahadur Kunwar said the campaign has seen an overwhelming participation of security agencies, civil society, civil service employees and employees of various organizations.
On the occasion, coordinator of the Civil Society Pokhara Ram Bahadur Poudel likewise drew the attention of the President to the degrading beauty of the lake due to the invasion of hyacinth and taking initiatives to conserve it.
On the initiatives of the metropolis, a campaign to clean up the lake is held every Friday. RSS
