President honors Paralympics medalist Goverdhan

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: President Ramchandra Paudel honored Paralympic bronze medalist Palesha Goverdhan and her team during a ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: President Ramchandra Paudel honored Paralympic bronze medalist Palesha Goverdhan and her team during a ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday. In recognition of her achievement at the Paris Paralympics, President Paudel, along with First Lady Sabita Paudel, garlanded Palesha.


The President also extended his congratulations to Palesha’s coach, Kabiraj Negi Lama. During the event, President Paudel praised Palesha for raising the nation's profile and expressed the country's hope for a gold medal in the future. The Nepalese Army played the tune of ‘mangladhun’ during the ceremony.

Palesha earned the bronze medal in the women's under-57 kg competition in the K44 category of taekwondo at the Paris Paralympics by defeating a Serbian athlete.
