KATHMANDU, Aug 1: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today called for the formation of a majority government.
The President sent a letter to the Parliament urging it to begin the process for the election of a new Prime Minister on the majority basis as the deadline given to the parties for consensus government terminated on Sunday without any result.
The Speaker's press advisor Babin Sharma shared that the President's letter was received in the parliament regarding the election of the new Prime Minister on the basis of the decree on removing the obstacles issued by President under the Article 305 and the Article 299 (3) of the Constitution.
The parliament is preparing to begin the election procedure of the PM on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the House meeting is called for 3:00 pm today. It is stated that the first shift of the meeting will conclude passing condolence motion on the demise of former Parliament member Hariraj Khewa who was recently killed in road accident.
Similarly, the letter sent by the president will be read out in the second shift of the meeting today itself. RSS
