KATHMANDU, May 4: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has sent a message of congratulations to Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the occasion of his coronation as the King of Thailand, on Saturday.
In her message, the president has expressed the confidence that the Kingdom of Thailand will achieve further progress and prosperity under visionary guidance and stewardship of Bodindradebayavarangkun, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She also stated that the excellent relations that so happily exist between Nepal and the Kingdom of Thailand will be further strengthened during his reign, the ministry stated in a press release.
“The president has expressed best wishes for the good health and happiness of the King as well as for the prosperity of the friendly people of the Kingdom of Thailand,” read the press release.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn was crowned in coronation ceremonies today. Prime Minister Prayut has declared May 6 a national holiday. The ceremonies included a coronation ritual and an audience of the king with high-ranking officials.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn ascended to the throne in December 2016 following an invitation by the parliament after the death of his father King Bhumibol Adulyadej in October 2016.
