KATHMANDU, Dec 7: Preparations for the upcoming 14th Central General Convention of the Nepali Congress have reached the final stage.

Party Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that the general convention to be held at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu from December 10 to 13 has reached its final stage. He said that the election will be held in 7 out of 8 phases of the Nepali Congress Party and out of which 6 levels have been completed so far.

Spokesperson Sharma said that the management of accommodation, food and publicity for the Central General Convention has been expedited.

“We are in the final stage of the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress party. There are seven levels of election processes,” he said, “Apart from the provincial conventions of two provinces and the conventions of some districts; we are now focusing on the central convention, leaving aside those issues after the general convention.”

Spokesperson Sharma said that sanitizers and masks have been made mandatory at the convention site considering the discovery of a new variant of COVID-19. He informed that a health desk would be set up at the convention site for other types of diseases as well.

“While the risk of COVID-19 is already high, a new variant ‘Omicron’ has been found in Nepal. With that in mind, sanitizers, mandatory masks, field antigen testing, other safety standards, and a health desk for other types of diseases have all been managed,” said Sharma.
