Preparation underway to hold local elections: PM

JAJARKOT, Dec 20: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that preparation was underway to hold local elections within second week of May, 2017. 


At a news conference organised by Press Centre Nepal Province No 6 at Surkhet on Tuesday, Prime Minister Prachanda said, "The government has been preparing to hold local elections as the constitution would be completely implemented only the elections."

Clarifying that the government registered the constitution amendment bill in the Legislature-Parliament for the documentation of the sentiments of Madhesi, Tharu and marginalized communities in the constitution, he challenged the CPN-UML to make the amendment bill a failure rather than obstructing House business. 


The PM also said that the necessary proposal has been forwarded from Council of Ministers for the support of flood victims of Surkhet. RSS
