After the discussion, government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki informed media persons that they have agreed to hold the election on time. He said that the meeting will be held again on Thursday after more homework on the issue. As the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers will also be held on Thursday, the poll date can be fixed by that meeting, he added.

The Election Commission has suggested to the government to hold the local level elections on April 27 and May 5. Officials of the Election Commission met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on December 24, 2021 and drew his attention to start preparations for the local elections.
