Premier 'A' dominates basketball c'ship

KATHMANDU, July 4: Host Premier College´s team ´A´ dominated the second day of the ongoing Premier Cup 1st National 3-on-3 Basketball Championship in the men´s category on Monday winning all of its three matches at the covered hall of the Dasharath Stadium.



Premier ´A´ thrashed Chitwan 21-5 in the first match. Premier scored 14-5 in the first period and 7-0 in the second period for the win. In its next match, Premier defeated NASA ´B´ 20-7.[break]



 The teams were at 5-5 draw in the first period but NASA could not hold the game and lost the second period 15-2. Premier overpowered Kirtipur 18-14 in another match. Premier took a point lead in the first period and continued it to the last minute of the game as the score was 6-5. Premier scored 12-9 in the second period.



NASA ´A´ lost the match against Golden Gate ´B´ 17-15 despite taking the lead in the first period. NASA took the first period 7-1 and lost the second by 8-16. Morgan College overcame Rupandehi 18-12 as it took both the periods 10-5, 8-7. NASA ´B´ overpowered Kirtipur 17-11 with wins in the both the periods. NASA scored 7-6, 10-5 for the win.



Golden Gate ´A´ sealed its matches against Premier ´C´ and Rupandehi ahead of the full time as it was able to score the required 21 points before the end of the matches. Golden Gate scored 10-7 in the first period and 12-9 in the second period against Premier. In the match against Rupandehi, Golden Gate scored 11-4 in the first period and 11-2 in the second.



Samakhusi Club also won the match against Chitwan before regular time. Samakhusi scored 15-7 in the first period and 6-3 in the second period for the win. Premier ´D´ edged past VS Niketan ´A´ 13-12 for a narrow margin win. Premier took a point lead 6-5 in the first period which was enough for the win as the second period drew 7-7.



Premier ´C´ beat Premier ´B´ 16-14 despite a 7-7 draw in the first period. Premier ´C´ took the second period 9-7 for the win. In the last match of the men´s category, South Siders defeated VS Niketan ´A´ 17-12. South Siders scored 7-6 in the first period and 10-6 in the second period.



In the women´s category, Prime Club dominated the day with two wins. Prime thrashed Nobel 14-3 as it scored 7-2 in the first and 7-1 in the second periods. In another match, Prime hammered NASA 14-4, scoring 10-1 in the first period and 4-3 in the second period.



Premier ´A´ thrashed Nobel 12-2. Premier took the first period 2-1 and the second period 8-3. Coincidentally, Nobel routed Premier ´B´ with the same score of 12-2.



Nobel made off to a flying start in the first period with a 8-0 victory and then registered a 4-2 win in the second period. Premier ´B´ was also humbled 17-2 by NASA. NASA dominated the first and the second periods 9-1 and 8-1 respectively to beat the host. In the last match of the women´s category, Morgan overpowered Golden Gate 14-9. Morgan scored 8-3 in the first period and drew the second 6-6.
