KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Nepal Telecom (NT) has launched international roaming service for its pre-paid subscribers.
The new service was announced on the occasion of the state-owned operator’s 15th anniversary. Under this service, pre-paid users can enjoy voice call, SMS and mobile data service from the same NT cell number when they are in a foreign land.

“To begin with, our pre-paid subscribers can enjoy roaming service in neighboring China and India,” Dilli Adhikari, the managing director of the NT, said.
Pre-paid subscribers do not have to make any advance payment to activate the service. They can use their main balance, Adhikari added.
So far, only post-paid users of the NT were getting international roaming service. However, they were required to make advance payment of Rs 30,000 to enjoy roaming services in 81 countries. NT lowered that to Rs 10,000 from January 1.
