Pradhan appointed editor-in-chief of Nagarik Daily

KATHMANDU, May 24: Nepal Republic Media Private Limited (NRMPL) has appointed Prateek Pradhan as editor-in-chief of Nagarik Daily, a sister publication of Republica Daily.



A board meeting of the Nepal Republic Media held on Friday also decided to accept the resignation of Kishore Nepal from the post of the editor-in-chief of Nagarik Daily and Shukrabar Weekly.



Pradhan, who until recently served as founding editor-in-chief of Karobar Daily, served previously as the editor-in-chief of The Kathmandu Post daily, a sister publication of Kantipur daily. Pradhan also briefly served as group editor of both Nagarik and Republica at the inception of Nepal Republic Media in 2009.



“Coming and going is a natural process in professional journalism. As part of this process, Prateek Pradhan has been appointed as editor-in-chief of Nagarik Daily effective from today,” said the Managing Director of the NRMPL Binod Raj Gyawali amidst a function held at Nepal Republic Media Friday afternoon.



While thanking the outgoing editor-in-chief Kishore Nepal for the valuable service he rendered to the Nepal Republic Media, Gyawali wished all the successes for his future endeavors. Nepal was the founding editor-in-chief of Shukrabar Weekly. “I have tendered resignation from Nagarik Daily and Shukrabar Weekly published by Nepal Republic Media Limited effective from today itself. I thank Nepal Republic Media for giving me the opportunity to work,” outgoing editor-in-chief Nepal said in his resignation letter.



Besides holding Master´s Degree in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Pradhan also has Master´s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from New York University and another Master´s Degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He has nearly two decades of experience in journalism, having held various posts in both English and vernacular dailies.



In his brief remarks, Pradhan has vowed to take professional journalism in Nepal to new heights. While asking all colleagues to extend necessary cooperation, Pradhan also pledged to make Nagarik daily the first choice of readers in Nepal.
