KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The government has taken action against several construction companies failing to meet project deadlines. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) within the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has officially blacklisted these companies, making the announcement on Wednesday.
In accordance with the PPMO's decision, a company operating within the Central Pahari Highway (Pushpalal) section and another under the jurisdiction of Pokhara municipality have been blacklisted for durations of three and two years, respectively. This decision comes following recommendations from the Central Hills Directorate Highway Office in Kushma, Parbat, and the Pokhara Metropolitan City under the Department of Road.
PPMO blacklists 33 construction companies
Notable among the blacklisted companies is MP Sitani & Sons West India, Bengal, led by Indian national Aditya Sitani. This company, situated in Birendranagar, Surkhet, operating under the MP/SCF/ECC JV, has been barred for a three-year period. Additionally, Surya Construction Pvt. Surkhet, headed by Surya Bahadur Khadka, and Elite Construction Pvt. Sukedhara Kathmandu, led by Surendra Raj Paudel, have also faced a three-year ban.
Furthermore, Morang Biratnagar-based Bhumi Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, led by Bhavesh Bohora, has been included in the list of blacklisted companies for a two-year period. The PPMO has explicitly stated that during the duration of blacklisting, these companies are ineligible to participate in any public procurement processes.
