KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Challenges are opportunities wrapped up in covers, unknown. But in the process of unwrapping, there’s a lot of hardship. If you give it your best, you’re sure to make it. And the outcome of artists who have surpassed such stories is what we’ve been enjoying for years.

Hence, giving the storytelling continuity, I’ve brought along another fresh batch of the latest singles headed our way from the international music scene.[break]

Cher Lloyd is a recent artist introduced by the UK talent show, The X Factor. Throughout the series, the singer/rapper took on a diverse assortment of songs, from Coldplay’s Viva La Vida to Jay-Z’s Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).

And now, Lloyd has debuted with the boisterous single “Swagger Jagger.” Not only is the track in the tune of the Christmas Carol “Little Donkey” but it also samples beats from a number of songs.

You should check which ones. All in all, amazing vocals and highly entertaining. “Swagger Jagger” is a mixture of both innocence and mischief.

We’ve adored Jason Derulo for such hits as “Whatcha Say” and “In My Head” and I can assure that there will be only more of such singles. Newsflash! The R&B hottie is working on the finishing touches on his new album “Future History” which is scheduled to appear later this month.

But its current single is already out. A follow-up to his dance track “Don’t Wanna Go Home,” “It Girl” is here to rock the scene. Check out the highly romantic side of Jason Derulo in this mid-tempo pop and

R&B flick!

Nicki Minaj has been making huge with her debut effort “Pink Friday.” However, at the moment, it’s something else that’s stealing the spotlight.

Congrats to the rapper/singer who was just added to the cast of the upcoming animated movie “Ice Age: Continental Drift”! But wait, there’s more! She has a brand new single to offer off her current disc.

“Fly” is what it’s simply titled. Featuring Barbadian beauty Rihanna, it’s got an inspirational feel to it and could be taken for a standout track of the album. To conclude, the duo sounds great together.

Leona Lewis’ debut “Spirit” was a worldwide smash, offering a number of hit singles. However, its follow-up “Echo” didn’t do that well, and now, it’s time to find out whether her 3rd effort has the same potential as her first.

The as-yet-untitled album is due later this year and is outlined by the single “Collide.” It’s quite different from her earlier materials and is more inclined towards dance pop music.

Although it’s a great track, it got into copyright infringement mess, being accused by Swedish DJ Avicii. Therefore, Lewis will probably have to find another song to lead her forthcoming disc.

The news about Patrick Stump releasing his solo effort had already hit us earlier, and now it’s finally on its way! The Fallout Boy vocalist’s debut album “Soul Punk” is scheduled to appear in mid-October but we can already get an idea how it’s going to be, thanks to the single, “The City.”

In it, Stump collaborates with rapper Lupe Fiasco, and it also happens to be a tribute to Chicago.

Yes, another hometown anthem in the making! About the highly anticipated album, Stump says it’s more popish, but that’s actually the real him.

It’s like following a drastic change in his appearance (after losing almost half of his weight) and is a surprising change in his music! Anyway, you have got to check out the now hunky rocker with a different sound in “The City.”

After breaking up in 2005, Blink 182 got back together four years later. Such a band would’ve been too bad to lose, although its members associated themselves to a number of side projects. Now, as per their promise upon the reunion, the punk rockers are releasing their new album and that too in late September.

The set is called “Neighbourhoods” and has been fronted by the single “Up All Night.” The track has their signature sounds of “experimental guitar riffage and a quasi-ska drumbeat.”

In other words, the song maybe more mature in its perspective, but musically it keeps to the model Blink-182 originally built. More than anything, it’s a great treat for their fans who have missed them for a long time.

This week, we witness another release from the alternative rock music scene. One of the bands worshipped during the ‘90s grunge era, Bush returns to the spotlight with “The Sea of Memories.”

Scheduled to come out in a week’s time, the album is a follow-up to their 2001 set “Golden State.” Fronted by vocalist/guitarist Gavin Rossdale, the English group has “The Sound of Winter” as their latest single off the disc and it certainly calls for a celebration for their fans.

The new offering still has its genre’s basic elements and is sure make you reminisce the old times.
