KATHMANDU, Jan 20: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which is working on undergrounding the power lines in Kathmandu Valley, has announced a temporary halt in power distribution across various locations for four hours a day. 


According to the Project Management Directorate of Kathmandu Valley Central and North Distribution System Enhancement Project, the repair work will last for one week, affecting distribution from six feeders.

The distribution interruptions will take place in Baluwatar, Chunikhel, Shivapuri, Tare Bhir, Ganeshthan, and Maharajgunj-1 feeders. The scheduled stoppages will occur on different dates, from 9 AM to 1 PM as part of the ongoing work to underground the electric lines under the Maharajgunj distribution center of the NEA.


The NEA in a notice stated that the supply will not be stopped if the weather is unfavorable. In order to organize electricity wires, the NEA has started the work of undergrounding the wires in the major cities.
