Postpartum woman and her newborn die on their way to hospital in Bajhang

In the remote region of Bajhang, Bajura, Achham and other districts, women have to bear the cruel reality of losing their lives prematurely every year, as they are unable to reach health facilities on time for childbirth.

DHANGADHI, Jan 7: A postpartum woman and her newborn baby died on the way to the hospital in Bajhang district on Monday.


A 21-year-old Sabita Bohara of Kedarsyun Rural Municipality -1 died on the way on Monday while being taken to the hospital. Local women were carrying her to the hospital for delivery but the woman unexpectedly gave birth on the way.

Bir Bahadur Bhandari, ward chairman of Kedasyun Rural Municipality-1, said that the woman died due to excessive bleeding after giving birth. According to him, the newborn also died after some time.
