Poor ID cards management coordination board formed

KATHMANDU, Aug. 22: A central coordination board has been formed to manage the task of distributing identity cards (IDs) after identifying the poor households.



The board formed under the chair of Vice-chairperson of Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) Janak Raj Joshi comprises Finance Secretary, Home Secretary, Secretary at Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Secretary at National Planning Commission, Secretary at Local Development Ministry, Secretary at Cooperative and poverty Alleviation Ministry, Secretary at Urban Development Ministry, Director General at Central Buearau of Statistics and Executive Director at PAF. The board will look into policy and legal framework and other logistic works involved in ID cards distribution, said the PAF sources.



The Secretariat of the board will be stationed at Poverty Alleviation Division under the PAF.



The decision to this effect was made by a meeting of the Secretaries of different Ministries, director appointed to look after ID cards distribution and representatives of technical committee in the presence of Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal on Wednesday.



The government is set to initiate card distribution from coming September 17.
