KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Through her 37 paintings, artist Seema Acharya comes out in front of the world, showcasing on framed wall-hangings, the passion for art, which has been inherent in her ever since she was three-years-old. ‘Pondering Moments’ is her first exhibition which was inaugurated on February 2 at Imago Dei Café Gallery in Nag-Pokhari, Kathmandu.[break]
After a 15-year block in her artistic capabilities due to a case of a violent marriage, from which she broke free after nine long years, Acharya put herself together and got her muse back. A conglomeration of sketches, oil paintings and acrylics, the subjects of her paintings vary from a series on horses to abstracts. There aren’t any themes as such, and the only message that these paintings give out is the artist’s own liveliness.
“You can’t differentiate me from my paintings. My paintings are a reflection of who I am,” says Acharya who plays with a lot of colors in her series, mirroring her full of life spirit in her works. Like she herself puts it, the exhibition is simply a showcase of what she loves doing. “Now, I want to receive reactions from people and continue with my work,” she says.
All her paintings are on sale and the proceeds from the sales will be going to Mendies Heaven, a home in Kathmandu for orphaned and abandoned children.
The exhibition will continue till February 8.
