He said elections without broader understanding will invite serious consequences for the country. “At present, only the leaders are squabbling. He also accused the present government and the alliance of UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Madhesi Democratic Front (UDMF) of pushing the country toward confrontation.
The CPN-Maoist party that strongly opposed the proposal to form election government under the leadership of sitting chief justice has announced to boycott the polls. It has been insisting on formation of a government headed and represented by political parties.
At present, there is a dispute and tension across the country between the two sides that are divided over the elections to be held by the current government,” said Chand. “If the polls are held forcibly, there will be confrontation among the people and that will eventually lead the country to social anarchy.”
He also said that his party is ready to take counter action if the government imposed polls without their consent. He said the major political parties had betrayed them by sharing power with them. “We demand our share in running crucial bodies,” he said.
