Polls in 32 districts on Nov 26, 45 districts to cast votes on Dec 7

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: A day after the government decided to hold elections of provincial and federal government on two different dates, the Election Commission on Thursday charted out details of the districts going to polls in the first and second phases.

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: A day after the government decided to hold elections of provincial and federal government on two different dates, the Election Commission on Thursday charted out details of the districts going to polls in the first and second phases.  


On Wednesday, the EC had decided to simultaneously hold the provincial and federal elections through the same ballot paper on November 26 and December 7. The election body decided to hold polls in phases citing technical and security reasons.

The EC said that a total of 32 districts from across the seven provinces will go to polls in the first round on November 26.  Out of 77 districts, the remaining 45 districts will go to polls on December 7.


In a statement, EC spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal urged the government to provide elections laws of the federal parliament and provincial assemblies without further delay. He said that the election body was preparing to write to the government requesting the latter to provide the laws.
