Poll predicament keeping country in chaos: DPM Gachchhadar

By
BIRATNAGAR, Oct 16: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar charged the three major political parties with keeping the country in a state of uncertainty by alternating their talk, every now and then,  between Constituent Assembly reinstatement and fresh elections.

Speaking to reporters at Biratnagar airport Tuesday morning, Gachchhadar, also chairman of Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) said there could not be any better option than going for fresh CA elections in the existing scenario and stressed on early political consensus. [break]

He also made it clear that the incumbent government would step down only after the parties reach a deal in package on issues, including formation of a national consensus government. "Otherwise, the new prime minister would only end up wasting his time knocking the leaders´ door for consensus."

Asked if the president would step in to end the current crisis, Gachchhadar expressed his belief that the state head would not take any measures without consent of the political parties.

“The president won’t take steps just because someone tries to incite him to do so. He has understood the situation well,” Gachchhadar, who has arrived in Sunsari to inaugurate a newly built temple at Kaptangunj of the district, said.
