The kidnapped, Radha Krishna Neupane, was rescued from a house of Raj Dev Chaudhary in the VDC at around 3 pm Monday, informed Bhuwaneshwar Sah, crime investigation officer at the District Police Office (DPO) in Sarlahi district. He had been held captive in the house since his kidnapping. [break]
Police also rounded up three persons on the charge of kidnapping Neupane. The arrested have been identified as Birendra Kumar Yadav of Sundarpur Choharwa VDC, Raj Dev Chaudhary of Barahathawa VDC and Suresh Chaudhary of Murtiya VDC in Sarlahi district, according to the DPO.
Preliminary investigation by police showed that Yadav masterminded the kidnapping and all the arrested have been kept at the DPR for further interrogation, informed Sah.
Acting on the information provided by Urlabari-based police office, plainclothes policemen identified the kidnappers and succeeded in rescuing Neupane, reported Sah.
Neupane has been living in a Bhutanese refugee camp in Urlabari. After he allegedly sent his sister, Shadi Neupane forced her to go to the US under the Bhutanese refugee resettlement program, Shadi´s husband Yadav who was angered over the split, kidnapped Radha Krishna, according to Sarad Chand, superintendent of police in the DPO.
SP Chand said although Shadi had married Yadav she left for the US upon discovering that Yadav was already married.
The kidnappers had been demanding Shadi to pay ransom money to free her brother, police said.
