Police make public two men held with pen gun

BHAKTAPUR, Sept 19: Two people, who were arrested by the police in possession of two pen guns and its ammunition in Bhaktapur a month ago, were made public on Monday.



Those arrested are Ram Bishwas Chaudhary,22, from Amarkatti VDC in Bara district and Bijay Chaudhary,22 from Laxminiya VDC- 9 in Rautahat district.[break]



Police made them public at a press conference organized here on Monday



According to the Metropolitan Police Circle Thimi, the duo was arrested on the charge of peddling of arms on August 16.



A case of arms and ammunition has been filed against them, it is learnt.



According to the police, the pen guns (90.2 grams with 5.4 inches length) were imported from India for smuggling. The pen gun is believed to be used by the notorious criminal gang for murdering people discreetly.



Though the Arms and Ammunition Act has recommended three to seven-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs.60,000 to Rs. 140,000 or both on the persons arrested with such kind of modern weapons, most of the accused get released on bail, said the police.
