KATHMANDU, Aug 11: The Metropolitan Police Range Office, Teku, made public Kalpana Mudbhari Poudel, the prime accused in the Gongabu murder case, on Tuesday.
At a press conference in the capital, the police said that Kalpana was held from Chitwan in connection with the brutal killing of Krishna Bahadur Bohora of Dang. Bohara's headless body was found near Ganesthan in Gongabu on Sunday morning. The arrestee is 37-year-old. During police interrogation, Kalpana has admitted that she murdered Bohora owing to financial reasons.
Acting on a tip-off, police recovered a black suitcase from the incident site which contained the torso of a man. The man's legs were cut off by using a sharp weapon and were kept with the torso inside the suitcase.
Three people arrested along with 713 passports
The police had recovered the head of the corpse, some 300 meters away from where the suitcase was found. The dead body had numerous cut marks.
Police were able to reach the rented room of Kalpana with the help of trained dogs. The rented room is almost 50 meters away from the place where the suitcase was recovered.
The prime accused of the incident was living at a house belonging to Kiran Basnet at Janajyoti Marga in Gongabu. Police have seized domestic weapons used by Kalpana to kill Bohora. Police brought the prime accused of the killing to Kathmandu from Chitwan on Monday evening.
According to the preliminary investigation carried out by the police, unscrupulous financial dealings and sexual violence are the main reason behind the killing. Kalpana and Krishna had come to know each other through Facebook four years ago.
During police interrogation, Kalpana has revealed that the man was misusing her Facebook account. On the day of the murder, Bohora had reached Kalpana’s room on a scooter with the registration number Ba 72 Pa 5644. After Bohora was murdered, Kalpana’s daughter helped her to dispose of the body, police said.
