Ugranarayan Yadav was attacked at Malhanma Ghati Tol when he and four other policemen were investigating the murder of a woman which took place four days ago. The mob used spears, khukuris and sticks to chase the officers away.
Police deployed after the incident have arrested five individuals from the area - Hridayanarayan Chudhari, Chandrabhushan Chaudhari, Suraj Chaudhari, Kumati Chaudhari and Saroj Chaudhari.
The arrested are kept at the police station of Kalyanpur. According to DSP Sudansingh Basnet, further investigations are being carried out regarding the incident.
