MAHENDRANAGAR, Kanchanpur, May 5 : Police have rescued a young woman attempting to commit suicide by jumping into the Chameliya river Sunday. Gomati Nath, 17, of Gokuleshwar-9, Baitadi was rescued 200 meters away after she tried to take her own life following her ouster from home by her in-laws. The 10th grader at Chandanpur Higher Secondary School was married to 17-year-old Mohan Nath of the same village last year but his family did not endorse the ´love´ marriage which has yet to be officially registered. She has been living with her parents after her in-laws expelled her from their house. "She says she does not want to stay at her parents´ house," her mother Ganga Giri said.
