Police fire shots as two families clash over land dispute

RAUTAHAT, Dec 25: Police have fired shots into the air to take the situation under control after two families people clashed with each other over land dispute in Garuda Municipality-8 in the district.

RAUTAHAT, Dec 25: Police have fired shots into the air to take the situation under control after two families clashed with each other over land dispute in Garuda Municipality-8 in the district.


The situation turned nasty after Hari Koshor Thakur of Garuda Municipality-8 brought a land surveyor to measure his land, claiming over some of his neighbor Atullah’s land.

They started attacking with each other with stones and bricks prompting police to fire shots into the air to control the tense situation.


Locals briefly staged a road blockade for two and a half hours in Chandrapur Gaur road section after the police detained the two people.


Four people who sustained injuries in the clash are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.


Police have released Thakur and Atullah after they convinced them that they would settle the dispute at the local level.
