Police detain 20 trucks, 4 drivers

ILAM, June 18 : Police have detained 4 drivers impounding 20 trucks in different places of Mechi Highway, accusing them of carrying wood logs to supply them without any legal papers.

ILAM, June 18: Police have detained 4 drivers impounding 20 trucks in different places of Mechi Highway, accusing them of carrying wood logs to supply them without any legal papers.


However, 13 vehicles have been released after submission of necessary papers.

4 drivers and 7 trucks are still in hold, according District Police Office.


According to SP Sushil Kumar Yadav of District Police, those trucks were impounded in Dhobidhara, Ilam Chowk Bazar and Golkharka, nearby district headquarter.


“Necessary papers needed for supply weren’t found so they were kept in control” said SP Yadav.


“We are in process to hand over them to Forest office.” Yadav added.


While entrepreneurs have claimed that the supply of wood logs were being done under the legal procedures but police impounded the vehicles without knowing the fact.
