Police arrest gamblers during Dashain

POKHARA, Oct 5: Amid celebration during this festive season, Kaski Police have confiscated around Rs 300,000 from over 24 gamblers for caught red handed during raids in Pokhara-Lekhnath metropolis.

POKHARA, Oct 5: Amid celebration during this festive season, Kaski Police have confiscated around Rs 300,000 from over 24 gamblers for caught red handed during raids in Pokhara-Lekhnath metropolis. 



According to the District Police Office, they have stepped up their efforts to crackdown illegal gambling at different gambling hubs of the metropolis. 



Police raided the house of Dipendra Poudel of Pokhara-Lekhnath 17, Kaucheghari and arrested seven gamblers.  Six decks of cards and Rs 150,045 were seized from the gambling parlor.



Similarly, police at Rambazar arrested six gamblers with Rs 34,348 and four decks of cards from the private house of Bishnu Maya Tamang of Pokhara-Lekhnath 14, Chinney Dada.

Furthermore, police have arrested six gamblers from the house of Santosh Shrestha of ward no 13, Sangal Tole with Rs 41,475. Four decks of cards and Rs 61,055 in stake were confiscated from the gambling parlor on September 27.



Altogether, Rs 286,923 has been collected, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Khadga Bahadur Khatri. “We have stepped up efforts to curb gambling at various possible locations to control such activities," he said.
