Police arrest 10 gamblers

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Police have arrested 10 gamblers from New Baneshwor in the capital.


A team of police from Metropolitan Police Circle arrested Deb Kumar Basnet of Ramechhap and nine others when they were playing cards at Sachetana Marg in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31 on Wednesday. The police have also seized Rs 123,835 cash and 14 decks of playing cards from their possession.

The police have launched an investigation into the case, according to a press release issued by the Metropolitan Police Office.  


The latest arrest comes at a time when the Metro Police has stepped up a crackdown on gambling dens in the capital as the festival holidays draw near.
