Police arrested 51 individuals for participating in a violent pro-monarchy protest in Kathmandu's Tinkune.

KATHMANDU: Police arrested 51 individuals for participating in a violent pro-monarchy protest in Kathmandu's Tinkune.


According to the Kathmandu District Police Office, the suspects engaged in unlawful and violent activities, prompting an ongoing investigation.


During the protest, demonstrators vandalised and set ablaze private properties, hospitals, media houses, political party offices, commercial centers, and public transportation. The clashes left 53 Nepal Police personnel, 22 Armed Police Force personnel, and 35 protesters injured.

Protesters torched the Annapurna Complex, Marble House, Koteshwor Mahadevsthan, the Tribhuvan International Airport cargo compound, Koteshwor Ganesh Chowk, a government vehicle near Bhatbhateni, and the Herbal Production and Processing Center.


They also set fire to 14 other locations, including the Unified Socialist Party office, the corridor road from Balkumari to Kathmandu, the area across Baneshwar Bridge, the airport vicinity, Indreni Cooperative's office building, Sinamangal, Royal Restaurant, and the Aeromax office building.


Additionally, they vandalized Annapurna Media House, Kantipur Media House, KMC Hospital, the under-construction DIA building in Sinamangal, the Sinamangal police post, Bhatkeko Pul, Koteshwor Police Station, Koteshwor Traffic Police Office, and the Socialist Party office in Bagmati Corridor.


Looters also ransacked Bhatbhateni Supermarket in Koteshwor, police said.
