KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Queens events, the organizers of Pokhara Premier League (PPL), has announced a three-year broadcast deal for the tournament with soon to be upgraded Himalayan TV HD in a program held in Kathmandu on Friday. A deal worth Rs 37 million has been signed with the television channel starting from the inaugural session of PPL on October 26.

The chairman of Himalayan Television Dharma Raj Bhusal signed the agreement papers along with Chhumbi Lama, the managing director of PPL during the function. “TV connects people like sports does. We are re-launching the channel with brand new contents. PPL will be one of the milestone presentations from our side. We are proud to be associated with it,” said Bhusal. The TV will own all the digital rights as well.

The amount of Rs 37 million will be paid by the television in cash and kind throughout the first three years of the tournament informed Lama. “To connect the premier league with maximum number of cricket fans we have joined hands with Himalayan TV as a broadcast partner,” he added.

Speaking in the program, the national team captain Paras Khadka underscored the importance of competition for the growth of the sports. “The way cricket is moving forward, the competition between broadcasters is also a healthy sign for the sports coverage in Nepal. On behalf of all the players, I would like to thank Himalayan Television.”
