PARBAT, Dec 26: The Pokhara-Baglung section of the Mid-hill Highway will be closed six hours a day every day from Thursday in order to intensify repair and widening on a nearly 24 km long stretch of the road in Parbat district.
According to Lama Constructions, the company awarded the contract of the project, the vehicular movement will be halted on the road from 10 am to 4 pm every day. In a meeting organized by the District Administration Office (DAO) on Sunday, the company said that vehicular movement on the road had to be halted mainly for cliff-chopping.

Ashish Thapa Magar, chief of the Mid-hill Road Project, said, "As demanded by the contractor, we decided to close the road six hours a day to complete the project on time."
The stakeholders present in the meeting urged the contractor to carry out the expansion work making sure that traffic on the road is not disturbed at other hours. Manohar Bishwakarma, chief of the District Coordination Committee, suggested to the contractor to complete the project within the given deadline.
Lama Constructions has been entrusted with the responsibility of upgrading a 23.769 km long road section in Parbat district. The budget of the project is Rs 839 million. So far, the company has completed 25 to 30 percent work, according to Govinda Prasad Bhusal, manager of the project.
"We have aimed to complete the project by mid-July 2019," said Bhusal. Constructed in 1991, the Pokhara-Baglung road section is now in a dilapidated state.
