A Ministry of Finance official told myrepublica that the ministry has received the demand but it has yet to make final decision. "Probably, we will release the claimed amount within next two weeks," said the official. Last week, PM Nepal led a 62-member delegation in a five-day goodwill visit to India.
Likewise, the foreign ministry has also placed a separate demand with the finance ministry to refund expenditures worth Rs 1.2 million that it made during the visit of foreign minister Sujata Koirala to India.
Earlier, Ministry of Foreign Affairs received reimbursement amounting Rs 8.8 million of the expenses incurred during Prime Minister´s visit to Egypt to participate in 15th summit of Non-aligned Movements.
The total cost of the three visits has touched Rs 260 million and the amount is over 30 percent of the total budget allocated for the higher level visits to and from Nepal for current fiscal year.
Likewise, cabinet-directed financial assistances to various individuals have touched Rs 195 million, 28 percent of the total earmark, within five weeks of the current fiscal year. The budget for the current fiscal year has allocated Rs 700 million
