PMO directs NEA to ensure regular power supply

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has asked the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to ensure an uninterrupted supply of power in the country while keeping the consumers informed with timely notices.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has asked the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to ensure an uninterrupted supply of power in the country while keeping the consumers informed with timely notices.


Considering the increasing complaints of power cuts of late, the OPMCM has directed the NEA to adopt all possible measures to address the just grievances of the consumers.

The directive was issued at a discussion held between the OPMCM and the NEA authorities here today. The Prime Minister's development management expert Gajendra Thapaliya, OPMCM secretary Toya Narayan Gyawali, Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Dinesh Kumar Ghimire and NEA Acting Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya and NEA Kathmandu valley distribution center heads took part in the discussion.


On the occasion, the NEA Authorities expressed their commitment to take every possible step to address the problem and to provide an easy and uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. Systemic reforms, installation of smart meters, and the underground distribution system will improve the situation in the long-run, they said.
